Artist Statement

My images are a series of portraits of a senior in High School capturing the personality of an individual at the end of a milestone. I experiment with changes in poses, expressions, settings, and photographic styles for visual appeal .

I edit  my photographs by adjusting color, contrast, lighting, and tone. These adjustments I make help with depth, and having a warm image. I also incorporated black and white to explore how removing color changes the feeling of the image. Although each image explores the same individual, I create diversity within the images by changing the environment, color, and more.

I am drawn to how small visual changes can influence the way we understand someone through an image. By placing these images together the viewers get to compare and contrast, and consider how images communicate to the viewers.

My work suggests that capturing identity and the end of a milestone for someone can be understood through multiple perspectives.
