Artist Statement
This series is about the parts of ourselves we dont always see. It represents the masks we put on everyday. I wanted to show tension between what we show the world and whats really going on underneath. The images being in black and white strips away distractions so the focus stays on the emotion and expression. The skull plays an important role, demonstating whats left when you take off the mask. Its a reminder of whats underneath. the whole series is a moment of reflection, being at peace with yourself. This is about vulnerability, identity, and holding yourself together when the world is falling apart, and learning to find who is that person behind the mask.
